Joan Marie Scholarship
The Joan Marie scholarship honors the mother of Deona T. Mickens and Desiree M. Ellison-Olheiser. It is intended to help a senior in the College of Letters & Science. Eligible candidates will have senior standing by August 31, a minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA, and a declared major in the College of Letters & Science. Eligible students will also have demonstrated financial need as shown on the FAFSA and significant engagement with or significant service to the African American/Black/African Diaspora community;
Applications are typically accepted in January. Awards given in spring are for the following school year so students graduating that same spring or summer are not eligible. E.G. applications reviewed in Spring 2025 are for Fall 2025; students graduating in May or August 2025 are not eligible.
