Bruce & Janice Mielke Languages Scholarship
Academic merit scholarships are available to bachelor’s degree students who are taking Letters & Science courses in a world language other than English as part of their program. This could include students majoring in a world language other than English, minoring in a language other than English, majoring or minoring in a program with required world language courses such as Global Studies, or working on a certificate that requires world language coursework. In all cases, the language requirement for the program must exceed the basic general education requirement for language other than English.
Selection will be made based on academic merit and preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. Second degree students (students who already hold one bachelor’s degree) are not eligible.
Students should make sure they have an up-to-date Panther Scholarship Portal General Application and the College of Letters & Science Scholarships and Awards Application in spring each year. No additional or separate application is required; students should thoroughly fill out the Panther Scholarship Portal General Application and the College of Letters & Science Scholarships and Awards Application. Awards given in spring are for the following school year so students graduating that same spring or summer are not eligible. E.G. applications reviewed in Spring 2025 are for Fall 2025; students graduating in May or August 2025 are not eligible.
