Nelson Cherkauer Lasca Legacy Scholarship

The Nelson Cherkauer Lasca Legacy Scholarship provides support for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Geosciences Department for field camp or research activities. Criteria include:

  • undergraduate major, intended major, or graduate student in Geosciences
  • demonstrated academic achievement, including a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • engaged in relevant field work and/or research

Preference will be given to students with a history of employment.

Applications are typically accepted in January and February and are paid the following summer or fall unless a student is graduating in May. E.g. most recipients chosen in February 2024 will receive payment in summer or fall 2024.

There is a single common application for geosciences students to complete in order to be considered for all geosciences scholarships and awards. For the 2024 calendar year, undergraduate geosciences students should complete this application by the February 11, 2024 deadline.
