2026 Elmhurst Garden Club Scholarship
Applicant Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Current Resident of the State of Illinois
- Full-time student enrolled in a minimum of 12 graded hours of classes.
- University Students: current sophomores or juniors applying for scholarship for use in junior or senior year.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Majoring in one of the following areas of study or preparing for5 teaching careers in these areas: agriculture, agronomy, botany, conservation, ecology, environmental studies, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, land management, landscape design, sustainability
Application Procedure
- The documents listed in the application must be:
1. Mailed to: Scholarship Committee, Elmhurst Garden Club, P.O. Box 383, Elmhurst, IL 60126, or,
2. Emailed to: egcscholarsips2020@gmail.com
Application Deadline: Postmarked by June 1, 2026, or emailed by 11:69PM on June 1, 2026.
SELECTION INFORMATION
• Scholarship selection is made by the Scholarship Committee of the Elmhurst Garden Club in June of the
year preceding the year of study. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email by June 30, 2026.
• Scholarship funds awarded will be applied to tuition payments and will be sent directly to the Financial Aid
Office of the student’s college or university to be applied to tuition for the following academic year.
• If awarded a scholarship, the student agrees to:
1. Send or email a Letter of Acceptance to the Elmhurst Garden Club.
2. Attend the subsequent March Meeting of the Elmhurst Garden Club to present a short verbal and
Power Point presentation about their studies, research, and activities related to their major area of
study and future career or education plans.
3. Give permission for the garden club to use their photo for Elmhurst Garden Club Scholarship
Publicity.
Application Checklist
- All documentation listed below must be included as part of your application.
- All pages must be legible and preferably computer generated.
- All pages must include your full name.
1. Application Form
- Complete Application Form
2. Cover Letter/Personal Statement:
- Discuss background, interest in major areas of study and description of your involvement in these areas.
- Discuss career plans/goals.
3. List of Classes:
- List all classes completed in your Major and Minor fields of study.
4. List of Activities:
- List to include organized extracurricular activities, clubs, organizations, indicating leadership roles if applicable.
- List honors and recognitions, received within the last three years.
- Students returning to school after an absence can list work experience and activities.
5. List of Work and Volunteer Activities:
- Describe work and/or volunteer activities related to your major are of study during the past three years.
6. Two Letters of Recommendation:
- One letter from a professor/instructor.
- One letter from a mentor or person familiar with your work and interests.
- Letters should discuss scholastic ability, personal character, and work-related experience.
7. Transcript:
-Official academic transcript from the school you are currently attending as well as from any previous undergraduate schools.
- Transcripts must include the latest grading period.
