Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program
The U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce the scholarship competition for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program in 13 critical-need foreign languages. The CLS Program provides fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for undergraduate and graduate students.
Basic Eligibility
- US Citizen or national of the USA (Permanent Residents and individuals awaiting naturalization are not eligible)
- Be at least 18 years old by May 15, 2026
- Be enrolled in a degree program at UWM (or an accredited institution) at the time of application
- Must meet the language requirements, if applicable, of the program to which they apply
