Boren Awards

Boren Awards are for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students committed to 12-52 weeks of overseas study and to public service. Boren awardees receive funding to study the languages most critical to our nation’s security in regions of the world of critical interest to the USA. Funding is provided through the National Security Education Program (NSEP).

Basic Eligibility

• U.S. citizen
• Can apply before but must be a matriculated student at the time of participation
• Meet the language and destination requirements of the award
• Must have an interest in national security and public service
