Frances A. Ross Anthropology Preliminary Dissertation Research Award

Supports preliminary dissertation research conducted within the U.S. by graduate Anthropology students.

Eligibility:
UWM Anthropology graduate students, preferably pursuing a PhD • Proposed domestic (U.S.) research Obligations/Conditions:
• Submit a major external grant proposal (e.g., NSF, Wenner-Gren) by January 15 of the following year
• Failure to submit will make the recipient ineligible for future departmental fellowships (exceptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

Required Application Materials:
• Current CV
• Research proposal (max 1,000 words), including bibliography/figures
• Faculty advisor recommendation (submitted through the Scholarship Portal)

Applications are typically accepted in March/April for travel in summer or fall.
