UWM Charter Schools Staff Scholarship

This scholarship sponsored by the UWM Office of Charter Schools is open for any individual currently employed full-time at a UWM-authorized charter school who is seeking a degree or certification/license within a department in the School of Education at UWM.

A scholarship recipient will receive a maximum of $20,000 with no more than $5000 being disbursed per school year.

Individuals applying for admission to graduate programs should do so no fewer than four (4) weeks before the scholarship deadline, as graduate admissions processing must be completed with an admission decision rendered before the applicant can access the Panther Scholarship Portal to apply for this scholarship.

Undergraduate and graduate recipients are expected to enroll in 6 credits each semester; however, a minimum of 3 credits are required. The OCS Scholarship will be dispersed at a maximum of $2500 per semester (fall and spring only) for a maximum of $5000 a year. The OCS Scholarship will cover a maximum of $20,000 or 8 consecutive semesters (fall and spring), whichever is met first.

Renewal requirements:

  • Scholarship recipients must be employed full-time at a UW-Milwaukee-authorized charter school.
  • Scholarship recipients must receive a final grade of at least “C” in each course.
  • To satisfy the bullets above, the recipient must send the Director of the Office Charter Schools an unofficial transcript via email at the end of each academic year and a continued letter of support from the school leader.
