Schwertfeger Scholarship

Fred and Ruth Schwertfeger support scholarships for bachelor’s degree students with demonstrated commitment and excellence in the study of German language and culture including students who will be studying abroad in Germany or another German-speaking country in Summer or Fall 2025. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required, and preference will be given to German majors and minors, but any bachelor’s degree student taking German classes at the Milwaukee campus is eligible to apply.

Students going abroad must also apply for approval for study abroad through the UWM Center for International Education (CIE). The deadline to apply for study abroad approval for Summer or Fall 2025 is March 1, 2025.

NOTE: This scholarship is for Milwaukee-campus students planning to study at a program outside of Milwaukee and outside of the United States. This is not for international students coming to the Milwaukee campus to study.
