Bill Carlsen Memorial Scholarship

Bill Carlsen, WTMJ weathercaster from 1951–1972, was one of the United States’ first television weathercasters. A scholarship in his name, administered jointly by UWM and WTMJ, has been established in his memory. Atmospheric Science majors at UWM are eligible for the scholarship.

A committee consisting of a representative from WTMJ-TV and a UWM Atmospheric Sciences professor will review applications. The dollar value of the scholarship is dependent upon available funds. For more information, contact Professor Paul Roebber.

For optimal consideration, students should fill out these parts of the Panther Scholarship Portal General Application:

  • Co-curricular Activities
  • Community Service and Volunteer Work
  • Work Experience
  • Academic and Career Goals

You may edit your general application at any time prior to the deadline for the Bill Carlsen Memorial Scholarship.
