Loescher Great Lakes Scholarship

Michael Loescher has been involved with the study and enjoyment of fresh water since his early childhood in Wisconsin. An avid boater on the Great Lakes, he has been commissioned as a US Coast Guard Captain, and is passionate about the protection and study of these waters and global freshwater systems in general. Mr. Loescher received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the UWM College of Engineering & Applied Science in 1991 and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University in 1999.

Linda Loescher has lived near Lake Michigan all her life. She enjoys the Great Lakes’ freshwater water and beaches. She feels strongly about their protection and sensible use. Mrs. Loescher knows the value of collegiate education and research.

The Loescher Gre Lakes Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a program at the School of Freshwater Sciences.

Students with a completed and up-to-date Panther Scholarship Portal General Application and Awards Application will be considered for scholarships, typically between February and April each spring. Scholarships awarded in the spring apply to the following school year, meaning students graduating that same spring or summer are not eligible. For example, applications reviewed in the spring are for scholarships beginning in the fall, so students graduating in May or August are not eligible.
