They Take Care of Them Stipend

The They Take Care of Them program is offered by the School of Education and the Menomonee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin to students in UWM’s Counseling Doctoral Program. The goal of the program is to eradicate the community’s opioid crisis by increasing access to culturally appropriate and trauma-informed, co-occurring treatment (substance use and mental health).

Eligible doctoral participants receive a stipend. The stipend is a subsistence allowance for students/interns/post-doctoral residents to help defray living expenses during the training experience, and are not provided as a condition of employment, or for tuition, fees, health insurance, or other costs associated with the training program.
