The late Victor Podlaski
Victor Podlaski, a World War II veteran who served as a headquarters clerk for an Army medical detachment in the 76th Infantry Division, established an endowment fund at UWM because of his strong Polish heritage and his commitment to education. Victor Podlaski’s nephew earned his PhD in Geography from UWM and went on to teach Geography at UW-Stevens Point. Victor Podlaski was impressed with the education his nephew received and wanted to show his appreciation.
Impact
The Podlaski Scholarship Fund has provided scholarships for students of Polish lineage or students studying Polish geography, history, language or literature since 1986.
