The late Victor Greene, Emeritus Professor of History
Emeritus Professor Victor Greene (b.1931-d.2014) served on the faculty of the UWM Department of History from 1971 until his retirement in 2003, teaching in the fields of ethnic history, labor history and popular culture. He founded the UWM Ethnic Studies program and played an instrumental role in the establishment of the UWM faculty exchange with Charles University in Prague.
Impact
This Fund honors the legacy of Frank P. Zeidler (b.1912-d.2006), Mayor of the City of Milwaukee from 1948-1960. He was elected for three consecutive terms as Milwaukee’s third Socialist mayor, and his legacy included numerous major improvements to the city’s public services. Frank Zeidler received UWM’s first honorary degree in 1958, and the UWM Libraries house his papers.
