The late Florence Saloutos and Friends and Family of Theodore Saloutos
Theodore Saloutos (1910-1980) graduated in 1933 from Milwaukee State Teachers College, UWM’s predecessor. After receiving his PhD in History at UW-Madison, he went on to become a distinguished historian in the areas of US immigration and agricultural history. In 1977, the UWM Alumni Association named him a Distinguished Alumnus. In 1985, Florence Saloutos, the widow of Theodore Saloutos, made gifts to establish a fund for awards for History graduate students writing their thesis in American History in the name of her husband.
