Steven M. Socol

Steven M. Socol was born in Milwaukee in 1956 and attended Milwaukee Public Schools. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1974. He then went on to receive a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from UWM (1978) and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University (1983), where he received the graduate research award in Inorganic Chemistry in 1983. He then completed two years of postdoctoral studies at Ohio State University, after which he taught at several small colleges and a community college. Dr. Socol retired at the end of 2025.
