Richard and Dawn A. Haney
Richard (deceased) was a professor in UWM?s Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Dawn earned her degree in 1952 from the Milwaukee State Teachers College, the School of Education?s forerunner school. She taught in Jefferson and Milwaukee Counties.
Impact
Richard and Dawn received financial support when they were in college and know firsthand the impact that had on their own success. Dawn wants to ?give back,? and hopes that she can help relieve the increased burden that students shoulder today. Dawn said she worries about the cost of education today and the challenges teachers are encountering in classrooms. She established this scholarship to encourage students, especially those who share Richard?s love for math and science, to teach these subjects in middle and high school.
