Michael Petrick

Michael Petrick

Michael Petrick (b. 1942, d. 2012) was originally from Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

He completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree at UWM and went on to earn his PhD in journalism and political science from UW-Madison. His career included working in journalism for many years, including at the Appleton Post Crescent and the Milwaukee South Times Star. Michael subsequently moved to Washington D.C. where he worked for the Evening Star as Copy Editor.

Mr. Petrick then taught journalism at various institutions, including UW-Madison, the Maryland School of Journalism, and finally at Central Michigan University where he was chair of the department.

Impact

The Michael Petrick fund was established to leave a permanent legacy of support for journalism students at UWM.

Scholarships
