Magdalena Rocha Ocampo '14
Magdalena Ocampo is an equity research associate on the U.S. Equity Strategy team at UBS Investment Bank located in New York City. Prior to UBS, Magdalena worked at Cornerstone Macro for three years as a research associate on the Portfolio Strategy team. After Cornerstone, she spent about a year on the Corporate Strategic Planning team at Ross Stores, Inc., also in New York City. Magdalena holds a BBA in Finance and a certificate in Investment Management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has been in New York City for four years, but has close ties to Milwaukee, mostly because of her connections at UWM (professors, alumni, and students).
Impact
“I will never forget my excitement when I got my first scholarship. It wasn’t just about the money for me; more importantly, there was somebody out there that believed in me, and it was then that I began to believe in myself. I hope that my scholarship will have a similar impact on a student.
I give to UWM because I truly believe that the success I’ve had in my career is mostly a function of my education and the fantastic mentors/professors who opened doors for me and made every opportunity a possibility for me. I am eternally grateful to the Lubar School of Business, the Investment Management Certificate Program, and to Dr. Kevin Spellman, who has been my greatest mentor, friend, and someone I will always look up to."
