Kay M. Magowan

Kay Magowan worked for daily newspapers in Wisconsin and Colorado for about 15 years and was copy desk chief and assistant news editor at the Milwaukee Sentinel before she began teaching in the UWM Department of Mass Communication in 1983. Her
teaching and advising duties were partially interrupted in the 1 990s when she also served as executive assistant to UWM Chancellor John H. Schroeder. Kay was president of the Milwaukee Press Club in 1992 and received the national Outstanding Adviser Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi.

Impact

Through her estate gift, Ms. Magowan wants to positively impact future journalists and assist them in their educational journey.
