James W. March, Multiple Individual, Foundation and Corporate Donors

James March served as Director of the Division of Commerce in 1958-59, when it was administered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison but located at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 1966, the division became part of UWM and was renamed the School of Business Administration. He published two books, one of which, Cost Accounting (1949), became a widely used textbook in college accounting programs, and he was named Professor Emeritus after his retirement.

Impact

For many years, Professor Emeritus March contributed significantly to the educational, intellectual and cultural life of UWM, and was a leader in the development of the program in accounting education. Family and friends established this scholarship in memory of Professor Emeritus March after his death in 1980.
