Friends and Family of Renee A. Meyers
Renee A. Meyers was a professor of communication at UWM who passed away in 2012 following a brief battle with cancer. Renee was an internationally known scholar of group communication who focused on small group decision-making and argument, as well as the role of communication in cooperative learning groups. She authored over 70 published works and was recognized with the Dennis S. Gouran Outstanding Article Award from the National Communication Association Small Group Communication Division twice.
Renee held a PhD from the University of Illinois and prior to joining the faculty at UWM was an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma. While at UWM, Renee served as department chair and graduate director for the department.
Renee was passionate about education and pedagogy. She served as the Coordinator for the UW-System Leadership Site for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for over ten years.
Impact
Dr. Meyer’s friends and family honor her legacy as a teacher, mentor, and scholar through their gifts with the hope of continuing to touch the lives of students.
