Family and Friends of Dr. Carol Baumann
Dr. Carol Baumann graduated from UW-Madison, and due to her academic excellence, was one of the twelve original recipients of the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, which afforded her the opportunity to earn her PhD at the London School of Economics in 1957. Carol was a member of UW-Madison’s Political Science Department for four years and UWM’s for 35 years, achieving the rank of full Professor in 1972. Carol was also Chair of the International Relations major for 17 years and Director of the Institute of World Affairs for 33 years. She retired in 1997, at which point Carol was designated Professor Emerita in the Department of Political Science and Director Emerita for the Institute of World Affairs.
Impact
The UWMRA Carol Baumann Memorial Scholarship was created by friends, family and Carol’s beloved husband, Richard, who seek to memorialize her at UWM with support for students majoring in International Studies.
