Evelyn L. Petshek

Evelyn Petshek (1917-2010), a native of England, met her husband Kirk R. Petshek (1913-1973) in London just after World War II. The couple immigrated to the U.S. and moved to Milwaukee in 1962 when Kirk accepted a position as Professor of Urban Affairs and Business Administration at UWM. Over the next decade, he became ill with multiple sclerosis and lost his mobility. Evelyn was UWM’s first Director of Development.

Impact

Evelyn was so grateful for UWM’s kindness and encouragement during Kirk’s illness, especially from Business School Dean C. Edward Weber, that she established a scholarship in Kirk’s name in 1973. This endowed fund benefits students with disabilities enrolled in the School of Business.
