Estate of Mariele Schirmer

Professor Mariele Schirmer taught both French and German at Wisconsin State College, one of UWM’s predecessor institutions, and then continued on as a member of the faculty in the German program at UWM. She retired in 1960 after a 42 year teaching career and died in 1961. She was known as an excellent interpreter and a scholar of modern languages.
