Edward L. Vander Grinten
Ed Vander Grinten attended Messmer High School and selected UWM so he could live at home to save money. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1966 and his MBA in 1970, although his undergraduate and graduate years were divided by two years of military service. Ed initially worked as a CPA, followed by several years in the real estate sector. In 1976 he opened his own public accounting practice.
Impact
With a desire to help hard-working students succeed with less school debt, Ed established his scholarship in 2015 to benefit a junior, senior or graduate student planning to pursue a career as a certified public accountant. The scholar who receives this award should be motivated to work to earn part of his or her own support, as it was this combination of support that led to Ed’s long and meaningful career.
