Ed Jackamonis

A member of the founding faculty in political science, Ed Jackamonis left the classroom for a 12 year career in the Wisconsin legislature in 1970. He retired as Speaker of the House in 1982 and continued his career in state service as Executive Director of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority until 1990. The award was established by his widow, Barbara Jackamonis, as a memorial at his request. For a full or part-time continuing student who takes an active role in serving the community at large or the UW-Waukesha community, has earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and plans to earn a bachelor’s degree.
