Drs. Fred R. And Ellen W. Eckman
Dr. Fred Eckman is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at UWM. Dr. Eckman received his Ph.D. at the University of Indiana and joined the faculty at UWM in 1977. He was then named a Distinguished Professor in 2013. During his 43 year career at UWM, Dr. Eckman focused his research on second language acquisition, second language phonology, and second language syntax.
Impact
Dr. Eckman and his wife are passionate about UWM. Dr. Eckman cares deeply about linguistics education and hopes that the Eckman Scholarship encourages UWM students to continue to find an interest in the study of linguistics.
