Dr. Barbara J. England
Dr. Walter B. England and Dr. Barbara J. England are delighted to help support the next generation of chemistry scholars at UWM through their graduate fellowship. Walter, who dedicated 33 years to the UWM Chemistry Department, was a revered Associate Professor who also served a term as department chair, is remembered for his curiosity, his rich conversations, and his sharp sense of humor. Barbara’s scientific career reflects her commitment to advancing medical diagnostics. She worked for nearly 30 years in the diagnostics field. Before her retirement in 2006, Barbara managed Quality Control at Cedarburg, ensuring that her work would touch lives far beyond the laboratory.
Impact
Barbara hopes this fellowship will both honor Walter’s legacy and his enduring commitment to supporting Chemistry students at UWM and perpetuate the spirit of giving instilled in them both by the generosity of the National Institutes of Health and the American Chemical Society in funding their graduate educations.
