Darlene Walters and the Family of William L. Walters

Darlene A. Walters has created this Fund in loving memory of her husband, William L. Walters (1932-2013), Physics Professor and Vice Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Walters earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin and began employment at UWM soon after.

During his tenure at UWM, his passion for teaching reached many students, especially those in the Physics Department. After serving as Vice Chancellor, Walters devoted his time to the Wisconsin Academy’s Science Development Initiative Program where he helped mentor the next generation of high school science teachers. In 2002, Walters’ influential role at UW-Milwaukee was commemorated by election to the Ernest Spaights Plaza.

Impact

An extraordinary scholar, teacher, colleague and friend, Walters’ lifetime commitment continues to have a lasting effect on the UW-Milwaukee community.
