Close friends of Ann (“Annie”) N. Aversa

The Representatives are close friends of Ann (“Annie”) N. Aversa (1958-2020). In the loving memory and honor of Annie, they create this scholarship to keep her special legacy alive. Annie grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from UW-Whitewater and earned her Master’s in Social Work from the UWM Helen Bader School of Social Welfare in 1985. She built a successful career in higher education, focusing on residence life and student affairs, and became a fierce proponent of social justice and access to education. She left an indelible mark wherever she worked, which included the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Marquette University, Temple University, Stony Brook University, and Barnard College. Her many colleagues appreciated her candor, compassion, and professionalism. She was detail-oriented, but also able to see the bigger picture, and mentored countless students and colleagues before her retirement in 2015.
