Bruce and Helen Barker Ambuel

Helen and Bruce Ambuel moved to the Milwaukee area in 1990 to raise their family. Helen taught biology and botany labs at UWM for several years. Her students, of varied ages, backgrounds, and experiences, many of whom worked full-time jobs, inspired her and in turn, Bruce. Bruce worked for the Medical College of Wisconsin as a professor and researcher in clinical and community psychology and, in retirement, was a photographer. Together, and for many years, Helen and Bruce financially assisted students so that they might achieve their educational goals. Bruce passed away in early 2018 and Helen, in keeping with their shared beliefs and values, continues to support UWM students who continue to inspire.
