Amy Tessmer Boening
Amy P. Tessmer Boening dedicated her life to education. She graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1951 with a degree in Elementary Education. Soon after, she taught in the Milwaukee Public Schools, from which she retired as a school principal in 1986. Amy worked very hard to support all students, teachers and parents during transitional periods of school integration in Milwaukee.
Impact
Amy Tessmer Boening lived a life of learning and giving, always thankful for the opportunities that the UW system had provided for her and her husband, an alumnus of UW-Madison. While teaching, Amy obtained a Masters of Art in Education in 1964. Her scholarship gift was made through a bequest in her will to the UWM Foundation.
