New Directions Scholarship

A four-year renewable scholarship for incoming new freshmen enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with an intended major in the College of Letters & Science. ONLY STUDENTS ADMITTED AS A NEW FRESHMAN FOR FALL 2020 ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP.

Strong applicants will have an ACT of 28 (or SAT of 1300) or higher and a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher. In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must have completed the following sections on the General Application:

  • Co-Curricular Activities
  • Community Service/Volunteer Service
  • Work Experience
  • Academic Achievements
  • Reason for Choosing UWM
  • Academic/Career Goals

Students may edit their General application at any point that it remains open.

In addition, applicants will need to submit:

  • An essay on the topic: “What is the best and the worst advice you’ve ever been given? Tell us about the situation and what you chose to do with the advice that was given to you.”
  • A copy of your high school transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
